Data breach — Critical

Times Car, a Japanese vehicle rental and car-sharing service operated by the Park24 group, detected unauthorized access to its systems in early September 2026 and blocked it on September 26. On September 28, the company confirmed that data belonging to roughly 6.6 million current and former members, both individual and corporate (Times Business Service), had been exposed: name, address, date of birth, phone number, email, driver's license and identity verification document details, account password (stored in a non-recoverable form), and linked service IDs. Credit card data was not affected and there is no evidence of the data being distributed.

The combined exposure of identity documents (driver's licenses) and personal contact details facilitates identity theft and targeted phishing attempts impersonating Times Car.

## Exposed data

- Full name
- Postal address
- Date of birth
- Phone number
- Email address
- Identity document
- Password (hashed)
- Customer ID
- Employment data

## What you can do

- Change that password — and everywhere you reused it. That is how a leak spreads to your other accounts.
- Turn on two-factor authentication on the affected accounts: a stolen password is then no longer enough.
- Expect phishing attempts quoting your name and this company. A message that knows your details is not legitimate for that reason.
- These documents enable identity theft, and cannot be reissued at will. Keep the notification letter: it proves where the leak came from if an account is opened in your name.
- You can ask the organisation exactly what was exposed about you (right of access), and complain to the DPA if no answer comes within a month.
