The town of Libercourt (Pas-de-Calais, France) was hit at the end of August 2026 by a ransomware attack claimed by the Kairos group, which says it exfiltrated 817 GB of data. The municipality confirmed on 15 September 2026 that personal data had been exfiltrated, without yet detailing its exact nature or volume, and reported the incident to the CNIL and ANSSI. Documents posted on the group's leak site reportedly include identity documents and pay slips. Residents with an online account for municipal services are urged to stay alert to phishing attempts.
The exposed identity documents and pay slips could facilitate identity theft or targeted phishing attempts against the people concerned.
