During the night of September 9-10, 2026, the server of the Maison du souvenir de Maillé, a memorial association in Indre-et-Loire dedicated to the 1944 massacre, was compromised by a ransomware attack that encrypted all its archives and their backups. The attackers are demanding a ransom of $5,000 in bitcoin. The association states that the attack also constitutes a personal data breach, with a possible theft of email addresses belonging to its members and to people subscribed to its newsletter. It has advised those individuals to remain vigilant against any unusual contact appearing to come from the organization.
These email addresses could be used for phishing attempts impersonating the Maison du souvenir.
