Fédération royale belge des échecs (FRBE/KBSB)

CriticalReportedNonprofits

On September 25, 2026, a user on a cybercrime forum claimed to be selling a database from the Royal Belgian Chess Federation (FRBE/KBSB), about 2.4 MB in JSON format. The samples shown reportedly combined player records (names, federal and FIDE IDs, birth year, club, ELO ratings) with club records containing officials' and treasurers' contact details, including phone numbers, postal addresses and IBANs. These figures and categories come solely from the attacker's post and have not been confirmed by the federation.

Exposed data

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Postal address
  • Date of birth
  • Customer ID
  • Banking data (IBAN, card)

You are only affected if you had an account or an order with this organisation.

What you can do

  • Expect phishing attempts quoting your name and this company. A message that knows your details is not legitimate for that reason.
  • Watch your statements. On any unknown debit, block the card and request a refund — French law (art. L133-18) entitles you to it.
  • You can ask the organisation exactly what was exposed about you (right of access), and complain to the DPA if no answer comes within a month.
