Nueva EPS

On 4 October 2026, a user of a hacking forum listed a database attributed to Nueva EPS, Colombia's largest health-promoting entity (EPS), which is estimated to have about 11.3 million members. The listing refers to more than 11 million people, with national identification numbers, names, dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses and health information (diagnoses, disabilities, mental health, pregnancy, hospitalisations). The author demands USD 15 million not to release the data and has published a sample; a sample of 29,018 records covering the Vaupés department is reported.

If authentic, identity details combined with health information would let a malicious third party carry out identity theft, targeted phishing or health-based extortion.
