Bati-Avenue
ModerateReportedRetail
Bati-Avenue, a French online retailer of construction equipment for professionals, is notifying some of its customers of a data breach at Shipup, the provider it uses to track deliveries. The people affected placed orders with the company through the Amazon or ManoMano marketplaces. An unauthorised third party may have accessed information passed to Shipup for order tracking: last names, first names and phone numbers. The e-mail addresses attached to the orders were masked. According to the company, no banking data and no account passwords are involved, and the number of customers affected has not been disclosed.
These details allow a malicious third party to identify customers and contact them by phone or SMS, for example in a phishing attempt.

What you can do
- Expect phishing attempts quoting your name and this company. A message that knows your details is not legitimate for that reason.
- You can ask the organisation exactly what was exposed about you (right of access), and complain to the DPA if no answer comes within a month.
