Gold Service
ModerateReportedRetail
Swiss precious metals dealer Gold Service announced a security incident affecting customer data linked to online transactions. The exposed data includes full names, email addresses, postal addresses and phone numbers, and for some customers the amount of their transactions. The company states that banking data is not affected and that some customers have already been contacted by a third party holding information about them. The number of people affected, the period and the origin of the intrusion have not been disclosed.
The combination of identity, contact details and, for some customers, transaction amounts allows a third party to make fraudulent calls, SMS or emails impersonating Gold Service more convincing.
